Let's break the stigma around having a therapist.  

Only a handful of people know that I recently got a therapist(I don’t even think my brother & mom know). Well I guess now they do:)

 I decided to get a therapist three weeks ago because there were certain areas/struggles in my life that I have been working on for years, that I haven’t been able to overcome. 

These things have been so ingrained in my identity, that I started to believe that it was just who I was. It was eating me up inside, I felt trapped & I knew that these challenges were going to be extremely difficult to overcome by myself. 

Ive been working on these issues for a long time, praying on them, asking friends for help, but ultimately made the decision to get professional help three weeks ago. In these three weeks, I have seen amazing progress in my life, my daily habits and my overall happiness. 

I have made more progress in the past three weeks than I have made in the past three years. I attribute it to speaking with a professional who has years of real life experience & specializes in what i’m working on. 

Now, i’ve been interested in getting a therapist for years but the sessions were always so expensive & typically weren’t covered by insurance. I never went and saw a therapist before this month. 

I stumbled upon Better Health a few weeks back and would highly recommend to anyone that is struggling or looking to have an unbiased professional to talk to. No matter your age, I believe that therapy can help in someway. 

One of my goals of posting this is to contribute to the conversation around de-stigmatizing mental health issues & talking to a therapist. If you’re suffering from mental health issues, you’re not wrong, you’re not different & you’re not weak. 

There is help available if you are searching & in my opinion, those that seek help & are trying to better their lives are the strongest of all of us on Earth.
