Is there anything more fascinating than a good Florida Man story? Join us this week as Loren tells one of the most disturbing Florida stories we've heard yet- the tale of Carl Tanzler and his unwilling love. Mentally prepare yourselves, because you're gonna need it for this one.

Carl Tanzler had many aliases. Born in Germany in 1877, he went by Georg Karl Tanzler, Carl Tanzler von Cosel, Carl von Cosel, and Count Carl Tanzler von Cosel. Our story really picks up in the spring of 1930m while he was working as a radiology technician with the Marine Hospital Service in Key West, Florida.

There, he met a lovely, but very ill, young woman by the name of Maria Elena Milagro de Hoyos. She was his dream girl, and given that there is absolutely no confirmation of her returning those feelings, we have to assume that he was likely not her dream guy. His love for her was enduring, though she quickly passed from this world.

This is where things take a really...disturbing turn. In 1940, the situation came to a head and Tanzler was arrested. What for? Tune in to hear the whole story!
