In French we have an expression: "la mayonnaise n'a pas pris". Literally: the mayonnaise didn't catch on. That's what this movie is.

I have been bothered by some movies that poorly depict the circus. It fuels a negative subconscious idea that the circus comes naturally: everyone is what they are on stage even in their downtime, and you don't see the work involved in becoming a circus performer. Or that there are bad people in it: like the evil animal tamer archetype. The movie Dumbo is not any better, and I'm roasting it.
