As America is embroiled in conversations about race, we go back in time to discuss two twentieth-century writers, Ralph Ellison and James Baldwin. These aren’t the first to describe the black experience in the United States, but these artists have opened many people’s eyes to some of the indignities faced by African-Americans over the years.
