Lawrence Bittaker and Roy Norris, known at the Toolbox Killers, terrorized Southern California for five months in 1979 when they went on a killing spree that claimed the lives of five teenage girls. Both men had been in and out of prison and state mental hospitals for repeated offenses and yet they always ended up being released back into society. The final time each was released proved to be a deadly mistake. After meeting while incarcerated at the California Men’s Prison, Bittaker and Norris concocted a plan that would involve kidnapping, raping, torturing, and murdering teenage girls - a plan that would be put into motion the next time they were released from prison. This episode takes listeners through Part 1 of the case which covers the backgrounds of Bittaker and Norris until they met in prison in 1978 and then through the first two victims in their murder spree: Cindy Schaefer and Andrea Hall. To this day, the remains of Cindy and Andrea have never been found.
