Mental Health has become more of a commonplace conversation in our culture, and even in the church...but it still feels new. Many of us are now grappling with how we approach our own mental health, and how the ways we were brought up to think about mental health have affected us. For those of us raised in the church, thinking through our upbringings requires us to ask questions about how well (or not) the church prepared us to pursue mental health, and how to respond when our mental health is less than ideal.
Tom & Pete share a bit of their experiences growing up, as well as some thoughts about how the church could do better at fostering mental health. They do so as a pastor and former pastor...NOT speaking as mental health experts, but as two guys with their own experiences in the church and navigating their own health.
No matter where your mental health is at during these crazy COVID days, know that you are not alone, and that there are always folks who are willing to connect with you, and understand your struggles. If we can help you feel more known and understood, don't hesitate to reach out.
