225: Rapper Big Pooh: Police and the Black Experience

Listen Later

North Carolina MC “Rapper Big Pooh” of the group Little Brother has continued to not just perfect his craft as a solo artist but also continue to use his art in order to speak out against injustices. On March 24th, 2015 he'll release his debut EP called “Words Paint Pictures.”

The 1st single off the EP is "Stop" which tells a story of a racist police stop while eulogizing Oscar Grant, Mike Brown and those killed by police brutality. In it he spits “let off with a warning, consider myself bless/Only if you're alive, you can understand that stress.” During our interview on The Library, I asked him to give us insight to the black experience when it comes with interacting with the police.

The entire interview with Rapper Big Pooh will be available soon here thelibrarywithtimeinenkel.libsyn.com/

Also will air on AndYouDontStop with Chuck D on rapstation.com and 99.5FM WBAI in NYC.
