In the next 24 hours. Let's walk through what's happening across the state.
Metro Atlanta, you're almost done with the wet stuff. A slight chance of showers lingers through mid-morning, then we dry out. High today climbs to 68 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Tonight, we drop to 50 degrees.
Down along the coast, it's a different story. Thunderstorms are likely this morning — peaking around 8 A.M. — with an 80 percent chance of rain. Highs reach 68 degrees. Showers taper off overnight as lows dip to 54 degrees.
Eastern Georgia, you're seeing the heaviest rain. Rain and fog stick around through late afternoon. We could see up to an inch of additional rainfall. Highs top out at 68 degrees, with patchy fog developing overnight as temperatures fall to 52 degrees.
A quick note for those near Big Creek in Alpharetta — a Flood Warning is in effect through Saturday evening. Minor flooding is occurring, so avoid flooded roads and trails.
Now for the weekend. High pressure builds in Saturday with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s. Sunday? Even better. Mostly sunny and we jump into the mid-70s. Some spots could flirt with 80 degrees by Thursday.
We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise at 7:10, sunset at 6:33. Spring is just three weeks away.
Tonight's lows range from 50 to 54 degrees. Tomorrow's highs sit in the mid to upper 60s.
