Folks, the ground out there's officially mush. We picked up over an inch of rain overnight. and the puddles are deep enough for kayaking this morning.
In the next 24 hours. Here's how your Friday shakes out across the state.
Metro Atlanta is shaking off the wet start. You'll see some patchy fog hanging around through mid morning. Showers taper off by late morning. Clouds stick around for the rest of the day with a high near 68 degrees. Tonight holds mostly cloudy skies and a low around 50.
Head down toward the coast and thunderstorms are rumbling. The rain peaks right around 8 A.M. You could pick up another quarter to half inch before it's done. Highs reach 68 degrees there too. Showers continue into the early morning hours with a low around 54.
Eastern Georgia is seeing the steadiest rain. Up to an inch is possible before this clears late this afternoon. Fog develops overnight as temperatures dip to 52 degrees.
Heads up if you're near Alpharetta. A Flood Warning is in effect for Big Creek through Saturday evening. Minor flooding is already happening in Forsyth and Fulton counties. The Big Creek Greenway will have closures. If you see a flooded road, turn around. Don't try it.
Saturday brings partly sunny skies statewide with highs in the upper 60s. Sunday is the real winner. Sunshine returns with highs in the mid 70s.
Next week brings a brief cool-down Tuesday. Then temperatures climb again by Thursday. Eastern Georgia could hit 80 degrees.
