2/27 Georgia Weather Noon: Flood Warning

Listen Later

Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz.
Folks. Georgia woke up wearing a wet blanket this morning. Over an inch of rain in the last twenty four hours. Fog thick enough to chew on. and a cold front sliding south through the state right now. That's your culprit.
In the next 24 hours. Think of it like a squeegee dragging across Georgia from north to south. Metro Atlanta, you're on the dry side already. Showers are wrapping up as we speak. Highs hit 68 degrees under stubborn clouds. Tonight stays overcast, settling near 50.
The coast is a different story. That front hasn't finished its work down there. Rain showers are likely between 11 A.M. and 10 P.M. The heaviest push comes around 1 P.M. Highs reach 68 degrees. Tonight eases to 54 as showers finally fade before dawn.
Eastern Georgia, you're caught in between. A slight chance of light rain this afternoon. Highs near 66 degrees. Patchy fog rolls back in tonight as you dip to 52.
One thing to flag. Big Creek near Alpharetta has a Flood Warning through Saturday evening. Minor flooding is already happening. If you live near there, keep your eyes open and stay off flooded roads.
Now the good stuff. Saturday turns partly sunny statewide. Mid to upper sixties. Sunday. That's the gem. Mostly sunny, 74 to 76 degrees. That wind on your face will smell like spring. and it's only three weeks away.
Looking further out, mild air holds through early next week. We're gaining two minutes of daylight every day now. A slight chance of rain sneaks back Monday night into Tuesday. Highs cool to the lower sixties midweek before climbing again.
I'll be tracking that creek level tonight. You focus on enjoying the weekend.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves.
Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.
