Step outside right now and you'll feel that bite in the air — we're sitting at 24 degrees under a clear sky. but here's the thing: we're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight every single day. The sun is putting in overtime. and for about 24 hours, it's going to feel like spring.
In the next 24 hours. Down in the New York City Metro, you hit 45 degrees today with plenty of sunshine. Tonight stays mild with a low of 33. Then Saturday looks fantastic — you're cruising to 50 degrees. Enjoy that warmth while it lasts.
Moving north to the Capital Region, you reach 40 degrees today. You drop to 29 tonight. Saturday warms up to 48 before the bottom falls out.
Over in Western New York, you're also seeing 45 today, but watch out for gusty south winds hitting 22 miles an hour. You'll hit 36 tonight. A cold front slides through early Saturday, holding your high to just 40 degrees.
Central New York tops out at 43 today. Tonight holds at 35. Saturday brings a high of 45 before temperatures crash in the afternoon.
Here's the drama for the week ahead. A strong cold front sweeps through Saturday night, bringing widespread snow showers statewide. Expect 1 to 3 inches of accumulation by Sunday morning. Sunday turns much colder — highs struggle to reach the 20s and 30s. The Adirondacks could see single digits overnight. Monday stays frigid with highs only in the 20s. We're watching a potential storm system for Tuesday and Wednesday that could bring a wintry mix or rain.
If you're loving this extra daylight, just wait — we gain even more this weekend.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
