“Show don’t tell,” is a classic writing advice. The rationale is that if your readers can see, they don’t need to be told. That advice is certainly sound. I would also add that you should feel more than think. Of course, this is not absolute. Logic is necessary for good writing. But the more you can make your readers feel, the better your writing becomes. There are things we do not fully comprehend until we feel them. Rational thinking is limited in its ability to inhabit us. Feeling, by moving us, creates an entire experience that lasts a lifetime.
