Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz.
Folks, if you're squinting out the window right now and seeing. Nothing? That's not your eyes. That's Georgia wrapped in a blanket of fog so thick you could spread it on toast.
In the next 24 hours.,
A Dense Fog Advisory runs until 10 A.M. Across central and western Georgia. Visibility drops to a quarter mile in spots. so if you're heading anywhere this morning, slow way down. Headlights on. Give yourself extra time.
Now here's why this is happening. Yesterday's rain left a ton of moisture behind. Low pressure slid east overnight. Northeasterly winds are pinning all that damp air against the surface. but high pressure is muscling in from the east. and that changes everything.
By late morning the fog burns off. Skies open up. and suddenly you're looking at a stunning February afternoon. Metro Atlanta climbs to 70 degrees. Over in eastern Georgia, 69 degrees under partly sunny skies. Down along the coast, patchy fog clears early, leaving mostly cloudy conditions and a high near 69. February pretending to be April.
Tonight, skies go mostly clear. Lows settle into the upper 40s statewide. 47 in Atlanta, 49 at the coast, 46 out east.
Quick safety note. If you're near Rockdale or Newton Counties, a Flood Warning remains in effect for the Yellow River at Gees Mill Road. Minor flooding is happening. Turn around, don't drown. Simple as that.
Now the week ahead tells a fun story. Sunday is gorgeous. Atlanta hits 74. Eastern Georgia reaches 77. Then a backdoor cold front sneaks in Sunday night, dropping us into the low 60s Monday and Tuesday with clouds. but patience pays off. By Thursday and Friday, highs surge into the upper 70s and low 80s. Rain chances return with that warmth.
I'll be tracking that cold front all weekend. You just enjoy the sunshine today.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
