If you're in Southeast Louisiana right now, you're driving blind. Dense fog has visibility down to a quarter mile in spots. That advisory runs until 10 A.M., so flip on those low beams and leave early. The fog's thick enough to taste.
In the next 24 hours. Here's the story. A weak cold front slipped offshore yesterday. and now high pressure from the northeast is taking over. That's clearing our skies and cranking up the heat. We're talking ten to fifteen degrees above normal for late February.
Once that fog lifts around mid-morning. Southeast Louisiana hits 75 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Tonight stays clear with a low around 56.
Push north to the Capital Region and you get a gorgeous day. Sunny skies, high near 80 degrees. Tonight brings mostly clear conditions with a low around 55.
Over in Northwest Louisiana, you're the hot spot. Mostly sunny with a high near 82 degrees. Partly cloudy tonight with a low around 57.
Sunday looks just as nice. Southeast Louisiana climbs to 74 under partly sunny skies. The Capital Region reaches 80 again. Northwest Louisiana hits 83 with mostly sunny conditions.
This warmth sticks around through midweek. Highs stay in the upper 70s to low 80s. By Wednesday. Gulf moisture returns and we'll see afternoon showers and thunderstorms through Friday.
Quick note on today's sunshine. The UV index peaks high, so grab those sunglasses. We're also gaining nearly two minutes of daylight each day now. Spring equinox is just twenty days out.
