When George was in his early 20s he joined Emperor Diocletian's army. By his late 20's, he served as an imperial guard for the emperor. George was beheaded in the year 303 at the order of Diocletian after his daughter who was married to George, accepted Christ as a result of George praying the psalms and teaching her about the Lord Jesus Christ. St George Lydda is the patron saint of England, protector of arms makers, soldiers, boy scouts and lepers.
