We are so thankful to have been able to sit down with Mikaela in this heavy but informative episode to talk about her diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. What is BPD? How was she diagnosed? What are the symptoms, triggers and how it affects her daily life, romantic relationships and friendships? Moving to BC from Saskatchewan on her own a few years ago, Mikaela began to face her diagnosis head on and start to really understand what it meant for her. Not to be confused with Bipolar or multiple personality disorder, BPD is much different and affects each individual in it’s own way (see below for symptoms). Listen in for Mikaela’s experience, advice on how to help anyone going through mental illness and hopefully shed light on something that may be more common than you think.
“I believe that [mental illness] is legitement. But I also believe that if you don’t exercise, eat nutritious food, get sunlight, get enough sleep, consume positive material, surround yourself with support, then you aren’t giving yourself a fighting chance.” - Jim Carrey
