I knew when I started the podcast that I would eventually bring Travis Hempstead on because I was always inspired by his late wife's cancer journey and how Travis seemed to go through his own personal transformation as a result of her battle, her loss, and the building of 11:11 Event Co. Travis graciously accepted my invite to record a collab together and I am SO glad he did because he has a lot of knowledge to share! In this collab, he shares the challenges his late wife faced through her cancer journey, including navigating Western medicine and exploring integrative health approaches in the cancer world. Travis shares his story of how he started his own business, 11:11 Event Co, on top of also starting Erika's Journey Foundation to support others who are affected by cancer. Grief and loss is such a heavy topic, and Travis talks about it so eloquently. Travis discusses the challenges of being a caregiver for Erika in her final years and the impact that had on his mental/emotional well-being. He also talks about the importance of maintaining a positive outlook through his entire journey and how he found ways to keep moving forward. He shares some information about the integrative approaches that they incorporated into Erika's cancer journey and the benefits they experienced. Travis shares his plans for Erika's Journey Foundation and his desire to help others on their own cancer journey. He also briefly touches on the possibility of discussing new relationships forming after loss, this will ultimately be a Part 2 down the road with Travis because we both have a lot we want to share on that topic as well.
