On March 31st, J-Live will release his 7th album, "His Own Self,", when asked on The Library with Tim Einenkel how he's been able to stay truth to himself as an artist and have not fall victim to "selling out", J responded:
"I was raised in what people call the Golden Era as far as you don't bite, you don't get a ghostwriter, you try to push the envelope style wise, you don't just sound the same every time, that monotone, you're not dumbing down your vocabulary or your message. So in that sense, I haven't crossed over in those ways."
