Lara Jackson is in her first year as an Assistant Swimming Coach at the University of Arizona, where she was a 9x NCAA Champion and 14x All-American. She won back-to-back NCAA titles in the 50 Freestyle (2008, 2009) lowering the NCAA record down to 21.27. Lara began her career as a walk on.
In 2008, she went on to set the American Record in the 50 LCM Freestyle (24.50) in Prelims at her first Olympic Trials. Swimming right next to, and beating, Dara Torres. In Finals, she finished 3rd behind Dara and Jessica Hardy.
Hardy subsequently went on to test positive for a banned substance that was later proved to be a case of contamination. Nevertheless, she was not allowed to compete at the Olympics but Team USA did not take Lara.
