Students learn all the details about the anatomy on all the different tooth types. This is meaningful information. BUT How do we connect the dots for the dental hygiene student in the clinical setting on how that information impacts clinical care, treatment planning, and prognosis?
In this episode, I review the root trunk lengths of the molars and help provide information to students in a way that helps connect the dots between dental anatomy and conical care.
Detection of periodontal disease at the earliest onset is key to successful outcomes. A clinician who knows root trunk lengths and can apply that information during the assessment phases of care will be more effective at early disease detection.
