When shopping for furniture, have you ever stopped to think about who designed that piece you're about to put in your home?  Do you ever wonder about their inspiration, their creative process, or even their personal story?

My guest on the show this week, Caleb Zipperer, is the creative force behind so many of my favorite pieces offered up by CB2 (more on my love affair with the elegantly refined furniture retailer inside the episode).  When I found this out, I knew I had to have him on the show. 

I anticipated we'd chat about Caleb's creative process, and educate listeners on the furniture design process (which, of course we did!).  But I didn't expect to hear from Caleb such an impactful – and eerily timely – story of his personal struggle to achieve his professional success, in the face of adversity largely beyond his control.

I'm humbled and honored to help Caleb share and celebrate his story – and I hope this episode brings enduring strength and resilience to everyone dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. 

Caleb Zipperer is NYC-based industrial designer who has designed and engineered furniture for Alexandra Champalimaud, CB2, West Elm, and Pottery Barn.  His pieces have been exhibited at the Salon Art and Design show in NYC, and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, amongst others. His work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Dezeen, The Robb Report, Dwell,  Surface, New York Magazine, and Apartment Therapy. He founded Zipperer Studio in 2010 to prototype his designs for manufacture.
