We see the death of Emmett Till, and the extraordinary actions of his mother (Mamie) as a shattering of this hyper-normalisation. With Professor George Lewis and Professor Lydia Plath, we explore how Mamie Till used the physicality of Emmett's mutilated body to breach the hyper-normalisation of the racial infrastructure.
