"Sometimes I have loved the peacefulness of an ordinary Sunday. It is like standing in a newly planted garden after a warm rain. You can feel the silent and invisible life."
Welcome to our final episode of the King's Way Podcast Book Club for 2025! If you haven't already read the book we're reviewing, don't worry–this could be the talk you need to get you interested in reading it. And if you have read it, welcome to the club!
In this episode, Trevor and Ryan talk about a surprisingly beautiful, restful book: Gilead, by Marilynne Robinson. Treading the path between historical fictional narrative and pastoral theology, the author follows the letters of a fictional aging pastor in Gilead, Iowa as he prepares for his inevitable death from his old, failing body, written to his very young son in hopes that his son will get to know who his father was when he gets old enough to appreciate it. If you find narratives easier to digest than monologues or diatribes, this may be the perfect faith book for you!
As always, you can join the conversation by letting us know what you thought of the book or our conversation!
