Today will be a very strange day in America. It’s Halloween. Recently a new store opened in the town where I live. It’s called “The Spirit of Halloween” and I regret to tell you that every time my wife or I drive by that store, at any time day or evening, any day of the week including Sunday, the parking lot of that store is full of cars and a steady flow of shoppers are going in and out of the store. No, we’ve never been inside, but the window displays are sickening and frightening. In my humble opinion this store is a reflection of the moral drift of America and the almost insatiable appetite, in every generation, for ‘the darkness’.   It’s very practical evidence of what Jesus said: “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” (John 3:19-21)
