During my interview with Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels on The Library, we got into a conversation about whether Kendrick Lamar is just benefiting from a bad time in hip hop or is the praise rightly deserved. D.M.C. said “He is hip hop. He's doing hip hop the right way.....He has a truth of our existence that the young guy can relate to....that I can relate to now. That's missing in hip hop.
He also shares a great story about the lyrics in the record “Jam Master Jay“.
