If I show you an apple, you'll know what I'm talking about.

As you read the word apple, you know what I'm talking about.

But if I tell you to think about your future, do you know what I'm talking about?

That is waaaayyyy more abstract. Can you imagine it? 

How about  giving directions - can you tell it to a person or do you have to show it to them?

That too is abstract and now we're gonna learn how to become better at it.
