This week on The Library, we hear part 1 of Tim's interview with Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, hip hop legend and one of the founding members of the legendary group Run-DMC. DMC talks about the history of hip hop music, how and why it has changed, what he thinks about radio stations playing "old school at noon." DMC tells Tim:

"When they play it, where are all the kids? In School. Where are all the parents? At work. So they play me 12pm to 1pm on weekdays when the kids, who should be hearing music made by people their age which is educational, innovative, creative, they don't hear that but when they get out of school at 3 O'clock, turn it on. you hear the turn it up, sip the syrup, hoes and stuff like that. I don't believe in conspiracy theories because it's deeper than conspiracy theories."
