This is a Grimm Brothers story, so there is a bit of religiosity, a very brief mention of suicide (I try to blow past it as quickly as possible), and one of those rare deals with the devil that actually works out alright for the main character.

To show off your intelligence, I provide the following three words that I had to look up how to properly pronounce so that if one of your kiddos asks, you'll have the answer readily available:

~paternoster - the "Lord's prayer" according to Catholic tradition

~ducats - gold coins

~hussar - a Hungarian horseman in the calvary
