The Trailblazer's Guide To College Admissions

25. How to Find Your Purpose and Passion in Life Without Limiting Your Future Self with Mya Pearl Nerenberg

Listen Later

There’s a lot of pressure to choose a life-long career and make big money after graduation. But that’s not reality, and honestly, that’s not sustainable long term. Your career isn’t just one static trajectory you’re stuck in for the rest of your life. Your career will morph and evolve with you and your passions.

And guess what? You can absolutely build an incredible business that has nothing to do with what you learned in Business 101. Today’s guest is living proof!

In this episode, I am talking to Mya Pearl Nerenberg, mom of two, real estate investor, angel investor, and retreat company owner. After starting her career as an aspiring professional ice hockey player, Mya hit a no-income wall at 22 and fell back on her education and credentials as a sports dietitian before shifting into real estate investment in 2016. In 2017, she merged her real estate investment portfolio with health, wellness, and personal growth when she founded Ralia Retreats, a retreat planning business for personal and professional travel.

During this conversation, Mya and I talked about various career paths and how they completely shift from what we imagined them to be as 18-year-olds. Mya also shares her biggest lessons learned as she navigated her unique career path, why she made specific shifts in her career to pursue happiness instead of money, and the importance of following careers that light you up and get you excited (and not feeling pressured to monetize it).

What We Cover:

  • Why you don’t need the next 50 years of your life planned out
  • Unpacking the reasons behind your career choice
  • How to evaluate and discover your next passion
  • Why different perspectives are needed in the real estate industry
  • How to keep your passions a part of your life
  • Why there is no guaranteed path in life
  • The importance of building intergender and multi-generational relationships

”My biggest lesson overall is work on who you are being and how you're showing up and really listen to what you are interested in doing. And you will enjoy the process, you will enjoy your life.” – Mya Pearl Nerenberg
