John-Deric Mitchell is an actor, dancer, and print model based in New York City who has appeared on film and tv shows such as “Pose” and “Harlem”. He is also the personal assistant to Kenya Moore, former Miss USA and reality star of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”. John-Deric performed recently at the 113th Annual NAACP Convention in which he also served as a speaker on the first ever LGBTQ and Ballroom panel. As an LGBTQ advocate, John-Deric mentors runaway youth in homeless shelters to help them reestablish themselves in society while instilling self-worth and how to reclaim their dignity.
While John-Deric devotes much of his life into helping others, his road to success has not been easy and he faced much adversity over the years. In this episode, John-Deric shares his humble beginnings from childhood all the way to various rejections he’s faced as a black gay male and gives tips on how you can remove limitations in order to accomplish goals despite the negative thoughts coming from yourself and from others.
