Should we focus on macronutrients or foods? Currently, there is a hyperfocus on macronutrients - carbohydrates, proteins and fats as our "nutrient requirements". Many people follow a set macronutrient profile or an "if it fits your macros" (IIFYM) approach. Iis this the way we should be approaching nutrition? I discuss the key components of macronutrients, including their chemical structure, function, digestion and metabolism.
