On the feast of the Guardian Angels, we reflect on what it feels like to worship, as the Israelites did in today’s First Reading from the book of Nehemiah. Sometimes, while in prayer, we can be overtaken by a zealous part that wants to worship out of fear or out of a false image of God, rather than out of love. Other times, our prayer time can devolve into “me time,” when our parts create an internal monologue focused on ourselves rather than on God. Memorial of the Guardian Angels
