. People think of autism as a disease that needs to be cured. And it's not a disease. It's a neurological disorder. It's not bad, or wrong, or sick. It's just different. And if we can understand how that difference plays out in our kids, we can help them maneuver the world the way the world is. And, at the same time, I also believe that it would be nice if the world could cut these kids a little bit of slack, and sort of meet them part way. That really would be my goal.
