256. The Desire to Do Gods Will

Listen Later

Then I said, "Here I am, I have come — it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart” (Psalms 40:7-8).

David’s heart was to serve the Lord – the Living God. He chose to do his will after reading the Scriptures and recognizing his calling in them. His focus, his very being, and his life, was centered on the will of God. He gave his life to the Lord, knowing that everything was about the Creator. While David wasn’t a perfect man – as those same Scriptures have recorded – he was a man of God.

Apply it in prayer: Father, like David, I am not perfect. I am a sinner. I know my name is written in the Book of Life because of the death and resurrection of your son. Thank you for allowing me follow your will, although I often fail. And thank you for your grace when I fall short in my commitment to you.
