There are increasing concerns surrounding the chemicals firefighters are exposed to when responding to fires, including the broad group of per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)  that are inherent in the garments worn by the firefighters.  The panel explains what these substances are, their function and what alternatives could be available.
