Lars Munson, co-founder of Manatuck Hill Partners, an alternative asset management firm focused on public and private equity investments in small and mid-sized companies, joins the, A Desire to Inspire with Manny Patrick show, to discuss his journey through the years building a life and a career in New York, up and down Wall Street. Lars grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with a B.A. in Economics and a Minor in Finance in 1995. After a brief stint in Financial Services technology consulting at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in New York City, he acted on a longstanding love of investing and joined the Equity Research Group at Morgan Stanley in 1996, where he was responsible for publishing institutional investment research on the Restaurant sector. In 2000, Lars joined Pequot Capital Management, Inc., a large alternative asset management firm, as an Analyst and Portfolio Manager investing in US Consumer equities, primarily in the Restaurant, Retail, and Leisure sectors. In 2009, Lars co-founded Manatuck Hill Partners, an alternative asset management firm focused on public and private equity investments in small and mid-sized companies. Lars lives in New York City and Long Island, NY and enjoys reading, cooking, surfing, UNC Basketball, saltwater fly fishing, and well-made martinis.
