The Insomnia Report

26: The Day the Music Died & Ghosted By A Colony | Classroom

Listen Later

Good morning, good day, good evening and goodnight sleepyheads!

Welcome back, we are so happy you are joining us for another round of things we wish we learned in school.

Oh Boy! Grab your horn-rimmed glasses, your favorite records and turn up that radio dial - Disk Jockey Margot dives into some history of Rock 'N' Roll. She first talks about Alan Freed, who went against the norm and filled the airwaves with top hits, not just covers. Additionally, she covers the story of Buddy Holly, his short time in the spotlight, and the tragedy that Don McClean deemed "The Day The Music Died".

Then, Elizabeth tells the chilling mystery of what happened to the lost Roanoke Colony, where over 100 English settlers vanished with hints that lead to more questions than answers. Many theories are out there, but the volleyball Wilson from Castaway may or may not have been involved.

What song has been stuck in your head lately? What has kept you up this week? Do you have a listener story or topic you would like us to cover? What do you think happened to the colony? Drop us a line at [email protected], or follow us on social media. Don't forget to like, share and subscribe. See ya next week for another true crime story.

Stay sleepy!
