As an ode to The Color Purple, establishments, specifically the NFL and everyday corporations minimalize the black voice. However, when scandal within the company, a black face usually materializes to save that company, or become its scapegoat. We discuss Colin Kaepernick and his wrongful ousting, Drew Brees and the karmic stench that surrounds companies and billionaire brands who cannot escape their wrongdoings by mistreating black/brown bodies. Code-switching; is it helpful or hurtful? Do we want a seat at the table or should we build our own? Or become The Spook Who Sat By The Door?
