If you thought you could get away with paying small fines for traffic violations, think again! The updated traffic fines are so stiff that some of the states where the BJP is in power are slashing the fines on what they call "humanitarian" grounds.
There are reports about people who have had to cough up amounts between Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000 over multiple traffic violations. In Delhi, a man set his bike ablaze in protest, in Patna protestors clashed wish policemen over these fines.
