This podcast is about a Buddhist ceremony in Shaolin Temple London by a Buddhist nun, Renryu Dhammavihari.
After the ceremony we had a talk, so I will share ceremony and talk here with you.
Shaolin Rainer: Hello, we are in the Shaolin Temple London, and we just do a Buddhist ceremony by a Buddhist nun, and I want her to introduce herself so you can hear about her.
Renryu Dhammavihari: Hello, my name is Renryu, this is my Dharma name, I am a Buddhist nun from China, I am also a PHD student of religious studies in the UK. At the moment I come to Shaolin Temple (London) every week, every Saturday afternoon, we have a group activity here, we just do meditation together, and then have a group discussion about some Buddhist teachings and then we do group chanting for spiritual health, I like here and I enjoy this experience with all this Shaolin friends.
Shaolin Rainer: Please can you explain about the item of chanting, what is the chanting about?
Renryu Dhammavihari: Actually we chant about the Sutra about Guan Yin Possa, do you know Guan Yin Possa?
Renryu Dhammavihari: Avalokiteśvara as well, the great compassion Bodhisattva, he is the very popular Bodhisattva in Chinese Buddhist culture, and we Chinese people usually like to pray to the Guan Yin Bodhisattva for blessings, so we just chant to the Sutra and hope the Guan Yin Bodhisattva can bless us.
