Vincent was born in April 1581, into a peasant family. He became a priest at the age of 19. He spent his life preaching missions and providing relief to the poor and even even established hospitals, orphanages, old folks’ homes, lunatic asylums and an institution for the care of lepers. He established a religious institute of priests which is known as the Vincentians with a mission to minister to the poor and the sick in the parish.
