The Crab and The Cross

#27 Tradition is Our MOTHER: Educational Philosophy with Dr. Sam Rocha - Part 1

Listen Later

Dr. Sam Rocha is an Associate Professor of Philosophy of Education at The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He is the author of "A Primer for Philosophy and Education," "Folk Phenomenology: Education, Study, and the Human Person," and "The Syllabus as Curriculum: A Reconceptualist Approach."

We discuss his journey to academia, the nature of tradition, and the flaws of educational psychology. Rocha touches on numerous thinkers including Plato, Augustine, Aquinas, John Dewy, and William James. He also gives the best correction of Dr. Jordan Peterson I've ever heard.

This is Part 1 of our interview. Part 2 discusses Critical Theory, inequality, and Dr. Rocha's educational "hot takes."
