This is the last article in the series following my Enterprise Sales Show interview with Anant Patel, Vice President, EMEA & APAC at WEX and we finish with a great topic – how to show up as our authentic self.
What is Anant’s advice about showing up as our authentic selves?
Understanding showing up as our authentic selves is realising that:
● If you show up as yourself, you will be accepted and not only will you be accepted, but you will be trusted and people will respect the fact that you are being you.
● We must learn to grow. It's okay not to know everything or to have all of the answers.
● Showing up as you is being open and honest with yourself and that includes being open and honest when you do not know the answer.
● People who can admit they do not everything create the option to collaborate and connect with others who could provide a solution. Anant happily acknowledges that he does not know everything, in fact, the week before our conversation, he found himself in this exact situation when speaking to his US line manager. So, he took his own advice and told his manager that and he would come back to him with the solution later in the week, which was accepted.
How to show up as yourself:
● Do not make things up or try to give an answer when you do not have one - that breaks trust, which is too valuable to risk.
● Create a network. Anant has got a team around him on whose knowledge he can draw, and he has extensive knowledge within his network that he can tap into.

Whether it's trying to get a sale over the line, a connection with somebody or trying to solve a major problem, Anant will know and trust that, within his network he has enough goodwill with enough people that the answers will come to him.
