Everyone is welcome!
Most churches want to make a statement like that, but, in truth, sometimes individuals or groups don’t feel the welcome really applies to them… Here’s a challenge: Are there people you would prefer to avoid? What would church life be like if, in truth, all kinds of people joined our activities?
The apostle Paul encouraged his followers not to regard anyone from a worldly point of view. He was against things like: putting people into boxes, judging people, labeling people, looking down on people. It’s a real challenge to turn a slogan - everyone is welcome - into a reality. It requires a change in ourselves and a change in the way we share our life with others. Are we up for the challenge?
