Bammerhab - Words from the Word

28 - False Prophets

Listen Later

The 3rd commandment says not to swear, right?

Nope.

To take God’s name in vain is intentional false representation of God to try to manipulate to get your own way.

Using the Lord’s name “in vain” is what is often called being a false prophet elsewhere in the Old and New Testaments. Sadly our generation is awash with many false prophets.

Who are they? What should you do about it?

Great questions! Let’s explore!

This episode digs deeper into “lashav” (לַשָּׁ֑וְא meaning ‘in vain’) in Exodus 20:7.

Exodus 20:7 - You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.” (NKJV)
