George describes some of his training in the Navy, which included aviation training.  While circling with other planes, waiting to land, George felt the stick jolt down on its own, putting him into a nose dive.  Just as that happened, another plane out of his view flew into the space where he had just been a split second before.  The stick jerking downward saved his life, and this is another experience he had that made him believe he was preserved for a reason.
