In this episode, we sit down with Thomas Hatsis and talk about psychedelics. In specific the role of some of these psychoactive substances in religions and certain practices around the world. Tom Hatsis writes and speaks on the psychedelic and entheogenic history. He is the author of The Witches’ Ointment: The Secret History of Psychedelic Magic; Psychedelic Mystery Traditions: Spirit Plants, Magical Practices, Ecstatic States; and Microdosing Magic: A Psychedelic Spellbook. He has appeared on the Gaia TV shows Beyond Belief with George Noory, Psychedelica, and Open Minds with Regina Meredith, as well as having articles published in Psychedelic Press U.K. and the Journal of Psychedelic Studies. He is the curator of the Psychedelic History Project Library, the world’s largest online repository.  Along with partner Eden Woodruff, Hatsis co-runs Psanctum Psychedelia, a psychedelics education and harm reduction group, which hosts the annual Gaian Mind Psychedelic Conference. Finally, Hatsis is an activist pushing for the decriminalization of plant medicines in his home state of Oregon. When not fully engaged in spreading psychedelia, he writes and performs music and plays roller derby.
