This week on The Library, Tim talks to the founder of New York's longest running hip-hop radio show, WBAI's Underground Railroad and the founder of the video blog, ill Doctrine, Jay Smooth. Tim and Jay talk an array of topics from Hip Hop culture to police brutality. Jay tells Tim:
“A more productive way of engaging is challenging each other and having real, honest conversations in a way that maintains an awareness of our human connection to each other. And that's something you have to learn how to do if you're going to remain within the hip hop community. You got to learn how to challenge people for saying things that you're totally against while still honoring that bound that you have as a fellow hip hopper and not just saying, you know what I just don't respect you, I'm never talking to you again.”
