This week on The Library with Tim Einenkel, Tim talks to legendary MC, Scarface. Tim and Brother Mob discuss his new album, Deeply Rooted, the writing process and the commercialization of hip hop. Scarface tells Tim:
"I think the commercialization of Hip Hop is like a plagued. Like a venereal disease. Like a cancer. We need some medicine for it. We need an antidote for it...The commercialization of Hip Hop is a poison. We should really address it more. We should really address the powers that be...If you commercialize underground music, then it's not underground music no more. If you commercialize a mom and pop stores chicken and waffle spot, it's not a mom and pop no more. That's what happened to all the mom and pop stores to begin with. The mom and pop record stores kept the music alive in the community. The reason why the music is dying in the community is because we don't make records no more. "
