Session 286: The Cosmic Emotional GPS and Root Reality

Welcome to a deep dive into the cosmic frequencies of the Seth Material. We are looking at Session 286 from The Early Sessions, Book 7, recorded on September 14, 1966. Grab a cold one, kick back, and let’s explore how Seth—that "energy personality essence" no longer focused in physical reality—explains how he actually perceives our world. It’s a bit chilling, a lot of fun, and definitely more "meta" than your average Wednesday night.

The Vibes of Perception: Emotion Over Objects

Seth kicks things off by reminding everyone that his reality is way different from ours. While we’re obsessed with the physical "stuff," Seth is looking for the "emotional charge" behind it. He even had to tell the medium, Jane Roberts, to take a break because her cats were acting wild. Apparently, even multidimensional teachers have to deal with noisy pets.

  • Thoughts as Action: To Seth, a thought isn't just a fleeting thing in your head; it’s a valid reality and an action in itself.
  • The Emotional GPS: When Seth tries to identify an object in an envelope, he doesn't look for the object first. He hunts for the "emotional charges" connected to it. These charges are the "only basic realities" to him.
  • Telepathy vs. Clairvoyance: Seth basically says these are the same thing. It’s all just interpreting emotional force. If you ask him a question and already have the answer in your mind, he might pick up your mental answer because of its emotional intensity, even if it’s wrong!
  • Size Doesn’t Matter: Seth doesn't see "big" or "small." He sees "intense" or "faint." A tiny note written with huge emotion looks bigger to him than a giant billboard for a car wash.

Dream Realities and Root Assumptions

Seth gets into the nitty-gritty of why we dream the way we do. It turns out, we’re doing a lot of translation work behind the scenes.

  • Root Dreams: These are "direct experiences" where no images are involved initially. Flying and falling dreams are classic examples.
  • Flying and Falling: Seth says flying dreams aren't symbols; they are actual experiences of the inner self. Falling dreams happen when you’re re-entering your body. We only "fear" falling because it’s a learned response in this physical system where "up" and "down" actually matter.
  • The Coloring Book of Emotion: Color is closer to emotion than shape. Seth drops a fun one: he associates the color red with the word "quick."
  • Precognition: Dreams about the future aren't about "destiny." They happen because decisions have already been made on a psychic level; they just haven’t "caught up" to your physical body yet.

Key Quotes from the Session

"To me, a thought is an action. It is as valid a reality. There is no basic difference between telepathy and clairvoyance, as you term them."

"The physical body as an object is, among other things, a symbolic representation of your own emotional reality."

"The world as you know it is mankind’s creation, and his abilities and limitations are all in evidence there."
